Celebrating Sweet 16: Paws, Purpose & Progress

Planned PEThood is celebrating our Sweet 16! Sixteen years of purpose. Sixteen years of progress. Sixteen years of saving lives.

For 16 years, Planned PEThood of Georgia has been there for tiny kittens, playful puppies, beloved cats and loyal dogs, while evolving to meet the needs of families and communities across Georgia.

We started in 2010 as a low-cost spay and neuter clinic for cats and dogs.

Since then, we’ve expanded. We now provide comprehensive, community-based care: low-cost spay and neuter, affordable wellness services, help for minor pet illnesses, rescue and adoption, and TNVR for community cats. Our mobile spay and neuter vehicle, FIDO, and free vaccine clinics now serve Northeast Georgia and Metro Atlanta. We also provide veterinary care on behalf of several shelters and rescues.

In 2025, we helped more than 12,400 cats and dogs. In 2026, we’re on pace to help close to 20,000.

Here’s what makes us different: most shelters and rescues focus on adoption. We focus on prevention.

We work to prevent animals from entering shelters in the first place by making nonprofit veterinary care both affordable and accessible, while addressing the root causes of pet overpopulation.

None of this is possible without our sponsors and donors. Their support helps us keep veterinary care affordable, offer free services when our community needs them most, and make sure cost doesn’t stand in the way of a pet getting the care they need. Because of their generosity, we can continue preventing animal suffering before it starts. (Want to help? Donate here.)

Sixteen years of lifesaving impact. Sixteen years of purpose. And so many sweet moments along the way. We’re celebrating our Sweet 16 and looking forward to making the next 16 years even sweeter. 🐾💗
