Planned PEThood of Georgia Welcomes Dr. James Pittman to Veterinary Team

Planned PEThood of Georgia is thrilled to announce the addition of Dr. James Pittman, DVM, to its veterinary team. With over a decade of experience in small animal medicine and surgery, Dr. Pittman brings exceptional expertise and a passion for improving pet health across Georgia.

A graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Pittman has spent the past ten years serving pets and their families in multi-doctor practices throughout South Georgia. Most recently, he worked as an Associate Veterinarian at Valdosta Animal Hospital, where he performed a wide range of surgical procedures—including spays, neuters, mass removals, cystotomies, and orthopedic repairs—and provided comprehensive preventive care, diagnostics, and emergency services.

“Joining Planned PEThood allows me to combine my surgical skills with a mission that truly matters: making quality veterinary care accessible to every pet,” said Dr. Pittman. “I’m excited to be part of an organization that is changing lives every day.”

Known for his calm demeanor, strong communication skills, and ability to handle complex medical cases, Dr. Pittman excels in both clinical and surgical environments. His experience collaborating with veterinary teams and educating pet owners aligns perfectly with Planned PEThood’s mission  – “Helping pets and their families by providing innovative programs and affordable services that save lives.”

“We are honored to welcome Dr. Pittman to our team,” said CJ Bentley, CEO at Planned PEThood of Georgia. “His advanced surgical experience and compassionate approach to veterinary care will be a tremendous asset as we expand our spay/neuter and wellness services.”

Planned PEThood of Georgia provides high-quality, affordable veterinary care to thousands of pets each year through its clinics and community programs. The addition of Dr. Pittman enhances the organization’s ability to serve even more families and save more lives.
