pit bull assistance

Pit Bull Assistance Fund: Keeping Families Together

Sadly, Pit Bull type dogs are the #1 most euthanized dogs in GA shelters due to overbreeding and low adoption rates. However, help is now available!

Thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor, the Pit Bull Assistance Fund has been created to help keep pit bulls and pit mixes in their homes and prevent them from entering shelters. Veterinary care such as vaccines, antibiotics and/or spay and neuter services are available to select candidates at little or no charge.

If you answer yes to the following, we may be able to help you with your pit bull or pit bull mix dog’s veterinary care:

  • Yes, I have a pit bull or pit bull-type dog
  • Yes, I want to keep the dog
  • Yes, I can travel to Duluth, GA for a veterinary appointment
  • Yes, I need help affording food and medical care for the dog

If you answered yes to most of these statements please submit a help request form below. It may take up to 5 days for a response, please be patient as we work through these requests.

This program is limited by funding, and not all submissions are guaranteed assistance.

Animal Surrender Request

Our Animal Rehoming Policy

If you need to return a pet adopted from Planned PEThood of GA or are seeking help placing an animal, please complete the form below. Keep in mind, our rescue program is small and foster-based, supporting around 500 animals each year. We receive between 50-100 requests each month, so while we are happy to review your request, we encourage you to explore all other options as well.

The acceptance of any pet into Planned PEThood’s rehoming program depends on the pet’s health, behavior, and adoptability. We take in pets when space is available, and admissions are determined solely by Planned PEThood’s management. Our priority is to save animals from euthanasia at shelters across Georgia, but we do accept owner surrenders when space allows and the pet is a friendly, adoptable candidate.

Please note, submitting this form does not guarantee acceptance. A Planned PEThood representative will reach out if we are able to assist. We also encourage you to contact other rescues listed on this page and Gwinnett County Animal Welfare if you require immediate help.

If you have any questions, please email foster@PEThoodGA.org
