Holiday Spirit Meets Healthy Pets at Habersham Free Vaccine Clinic
Community Outreach, Local Events
On December 13, 2025, Planned PEThood of Georgia partnered with the Habersham County Animal Shelter to host a free drive-through vaccine clinic at the Habersham County Fairgrounds, providing essential veterinary care to more than 290 pets in the local community.
Over the course of just three hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., families received critical preventive services to help keep their pets healthy, protected, and safe. Of the pets served, approximately 75% were dogs and 25% were cats, highlighting the broad impact of the clinic across the community.
To add a festive touch, staff and volunteers dressed in cheerful holiday costumes, creating a welcoming and lighthearted atmosphere for participants as they moved through the clinic. Residents lined up early for the first-come, first-served event, which offered a wide range of free services, including one-year rabies vaccines, distemper/parvo vaccines for dogs, FVRCP vaccines for cats, microchips, flea and tick prevention, as well as pet food and supplies. Each household was able to receive services for up to three pets.
The drive-through format ensured both efficiency and safety, allowing families to remain in their vehicles while pets were securely contained. Proof of Habersham County residency was required upon entry, and volunteers and staff worked together to keep the process smooth, organized, and compassionate.
“We are thrilled to have served so many pets and families,” said CJ Bentley, CEO of Planned PEThood of Georgia. “Access to basic veterinary care can be a challenge for many households, and events like this help remove barriers while keeping pets healthy and out of shelters.”
The clinic was made possible through the generous support of Planned PEThood of Georgia, the Habersham County Animal Shelter, Petco Love, and Fix Georgia Pets. Planned PEThood extends sincere thanks to the volunteers, staff, and community members whose dedication made the event such a success.
