Fostering Joy at Senior Services and Lionheart WORKS🐾
Community Outreach, Local Events
On Monday, September 15th, Planned PEThood of Georgia had the honor of visiting Senior Services North Fulton and Lionheart WORKS for an afternoon that blended education, connection, and lifesaving impact.
Our team shared an overview of our programs, with a focus on our foster-to-adoption program for cats and kittens and our Working Cat Program, which provides safe and purposeful placements for community cats in barns, warehouses, and other non-traditional settings. Attendees engaged thoughtfully, asking insightful questions about fostering, animal welfare, and the broader impact of these initiatives on families and communities.
The highlight of the visit came when participants—including seniors and young adults from Lionheart WORKS, a vocational training program for individuals with autism and other neurodevelopmental differences—were able to hold, cuddle, and interact with kittens from our foster program. What may have appeared as simple play quickly became a powerful reminder of the human–animal bond: its ability to spark joy, provide comfort, and create meaningful connections across generations and abilities.
This visit was more than an uplifting afternoon. It was a clear demonstration of the role Planned PEThood plays in building stronger, healthier communities through compassion, education, and lifesaving opportunities for animals and the people who care for them.
💛 We invite our community of supporters to join us in making more moments like this possible—helping families, uplifting individuals, and saving lives across Georgia.
