Planned PEThood of Georgia

About Us

Planned PEThood of Georgia is a 501(c)(3) animal welfare nonprofit with 16 years of lifesaving impact. Based in Duluth, we provide vital, mission-driven services that directly support pets and the communities they live in across Metro-Atlanta and Northeast Georgia.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we address the root causes of pet overpopulation and expand access to care. We help keep dogs and cats healthy,  families together, animals out of shelters, and prevent suffering before it starts.

Our charitable services include low-cost spay and neuter surgeries delivered both at our Duluth location and through our mobile unit, affordable veterinary care, free vaccine clinics, TNVR for community cats (feral cats and friendly strays), humane education, and pet foster & adoption.

Nonprofit Veterinary Clinic

Our Gwinnett County veterinary clinic offers low cost spay/neuter surgeries, affordable wellness care, vaccinations, and treatment for minor health issues. By making these services affordable, we prevent suffering before it starts and improve the lives of thousands of pets and their families each year. This approach has helped reduce shelter overcrowding and unnecessary euthanasia by addressing the root causes- unplanned litters and lack of access to affordable veterinary care.

Mobile Spay/Neuter Service

In addition to offering low cost spay and neuter services at our clinic, Planned PEThood’s new mobile unit (part of the Fido Fixers fleet) brings high-quality spay and neuter services directly into communities in Metro-Atlanta and Northeast Georgia where cost, transportation, or limited veterinary access have been barriers.

Adoption Program

Vulnerable cats and kittens receive second chances through our rescue, foster, and adoption program. They receive full medical care at our Duluth clinic including vaccinations, treatment for minor health issues, and spay/neuter surgeries. In loving foster homes, they are nurtured and supported until adoption. Our Working Cat (Barn Cat) program gives unsocialized felines safety and purpose. In barns, warehouses, and farms, they thrive as natural pest control.

Community Outreach

Through free vaccine clinics and outreach events, we bring essential veterinary care for cats and dogs, directly into communities where families face financial, transportation, or logistical barriers. By meeting pet owners where they are, these events strengthen families, reduce preventable illnesses, and build lasting connections between animals, people, and their communities.

Community Cats Program

We work with Metro-Atlanta and Northeast Georgia residents to care for community cats (feral cats and friendly strays) through humane trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) services and support for colony caretakers.

Humane Education

We empower current and future pet owners to become responsible caretakers through educational events and online resources. Adults and youth receive guidance on topics like TNVR and caring for very young kittens. By combining our extensive in-house expertise with hands-on learning, we help build stronger, pet-friendly communities.

Mission Statement: Helping pets and their families by providing innovative programs and affordable services that save lives.

Tagline: “Because rescue starts before the shelter.”

Thanks to generous supporters, which includes individuals, foundations and businesses, we’re able to make a meaningful difference in communities in Metro-Atlanta and Northeast Georgia.
